Spiritual Harvest

Beloved Commonwealth UMC, October is a season of change. The air cools, the
leaves turn, and nature reminds us that life has rhythms and transitions. Just as the trees let go of their leaves, God sometimes invites us to release things in our own lives— worries, habits, or burdens—that no longer serve His purposes. This month, I encourage you to take some quiet moments with the Lord and ask: What might God be calling me to let go of so that I can receive something new? Jesus said in John 15:2, “He prunes every branch that does bear fruit, so that it will be even more fruitful.” God’s pruning is not punishment—it is preparation. As we move toward Thanksgiving next month, let us use October as a time of spiritual harvest. Look around and notice the blessings God has already placed in your life. Celebrate the
fruit you see—whether in your family, your work, your relationships, or your service in
the church.May we be a community that trusts God in every season—planting, pruning, and harvesting—because we know His faithfulness never fails.
Grace and peace,
Rev. Pilar Pérez
